About Skyler

Before pursuing a Master’s at Benedictine University in Clinical Psychology, Skyler attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she majored in Psychology. While going to school and continuing her education, Skyler gained experience working with a wide range of children and adolescents through coaching competitive swimming. As a coach, Skyler values creating a strong relationship with her athletes and believes that it’s important to work on their overall wellbeing and providing a safe and comfortable environment for them. 

In her free time, Skyler loves to go swimming, walk her dog, spend time with her friends and family, attend Chicago sporting events and color.

Skyler’s approach to counseling

Skyler believes that building a strong, healthy relationship is key in the healing process. She believes providing a safe and supportive environment will help clients feel more comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their stories. Skyler operates out of a client-centered approach to counseling, meaning that she shows an empathetic understanding to her clients and provides them with unconditional support. She also utilizes play therapy techniques such as crafts, sand tray, and sensory play. All of these modalities are aimed at allowing individuals to use a creative approach to expressing themselves and their inner feelings. Additionally, Skyler draws from attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Skyler believes that building confidence and strength within oneself is key to helping individuals grow.
